Neck Scarf
Materials:
P Hook (for scarf)
L Hook (for edging)
Patons Divine - 1 skein (Richest Rose shown here)
Scarf takes less than a skein - about a half a skein,
give or take.
Notes:
ch 3 at beginning of row counts as the first dc of
the following row. When working back along a row, the last stitch will
be worked in the top 3rd ch of this ch 3.
ch 2 at beginning of row counts as the first half of
the first dc decrease of the following row.
Special
Stitches:
dc dec: (Yo, insert hook into next st, pull up loop, yo pull through 2
loops on hook) 2 times, yo and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Instructions:
Row 1: With P hook: ch 4, dc in 4th chain from hook. ch 3 (counts as dc
- as noted above), turn.
Row 2: dc in first st; 2 dc in last dc. ch 3, turn.
Row 3: dc in first st, dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in last dc. ch 3, turn.
Rows 4-6: dc in each dc across. ch 3, turn.
Row 7: dc in each dc across. ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), turn.
Row 8: sk 1 dc, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in last dc. ch 3,
turn.
Row 9: dc in ch 1 sp, dc in next 2 dc, dc in ch 1 sp, dc in last dc. ch
3, turn.
Rows 10-28: dc in each dc across. ch 3, turn.
Row 29: dc in each dc across. ch 2 (counts as first half of dc dec in
next row), turn.
Row 30: dc in next 3 dcs, dc dec over last 2 dc. ch 2, turn.
Row 31: dc in next st, dc dec over last 2 st. ch 2, turn.
Row 32: dc in last st. ch 1, do not turn.
Edging:
Switch to L hook.
sc along edge of scarf evenly (2 sc in end of each row, with
5 sc
total in each "point" of the scarf).
Join to first sc, fasten off and tuck in all ends.
If the scarf puckers while edging, work the sc a bit looser,
or
move up to an M hook.
The scarf wraps around your neck, and is woven through the
two
ch-1 spaces of row 8, as shown.
